In the tribal era of the Khazarkars, a clan known as the Kazanîr ("river dwellers") dwelled in the eastern region of Mirush. To safeguard their settlements, they constructed villages within the river, elevated by stilts or piles of stones. Amidst the wetlands of Tarmagân, these villages were built either on stilts or atop expansive tracts of shambog.

When the khazarkars started consolidating under chieftains, which usually involved the merging of several tribes, they began identifying themselves with a first name and usually took their tribal name as a last name. In cases of inter-tribal marriage, they would take the last name of one of the families, or in cases where the two families could not come to terms, a new family name would be established in some way to honor both families.

The Kazanîr were known to raid the settlements of other Khazarkar tribes as well as those of the Tragarans in their early history. Initially, these incursions were conducted using canoes, but as their wealth and technological capabilities expanded, they eventually employed galleys for their plundering endeavors.

By the dawn of the First Khazarkar Empire, the Kazanîr people had amassed in and around Akann'ndâb. They accumulated their prosperity as the leaders of shipping firms and constructors of vessels for the imperial navy. At that time, this naval force solely navigated the inland waterways of Marninnoth.

In the Year 360, Sagayân Kazanîr assumed the mantle of leadership for the First Khazarkar Empire. He stood alone as the sole Terrant to ever attain such a prestigious position. Seizing power through strength rather than lineage, his reign spanned a mere six years, yet the Kazanîr name became etched into the annals of history forevermore.

As the empire expanded, the Kazanîr enterprises ventured into maritime operations. During the Great Exodus (998 - 1017), their vessels facilitated the relocation of the Khazarkar populace from Gulimbor to Cinazan. Kazanîr warships and sailors also participated in the disastrous Battle of Satheon.

When the Khazarkar Empire re-established itself in Cinazan, the Kazanîr dedicated their efforts to safeguarding the empire's maritime trade routes. During the Third Epoch, Kazanîr shipping enterprises maintained a monopoly over the commerce traversing the Avalninâth.

For the past century, the majority of the family has dwelled in and around the city of Sakarumân. When this settlement succumbed during the Cinazan Front, the Kazanîr relocated to Nirzanâth.
