By the Year 1016, the Great Exodus (998 - 1017) refugees of Gulimbor had established a modest foothold on Brucrumus. The First Khazarkar Empire was unwilling to allow these former subjects to escape Khazarkar rule. On 16 Saunas 1016, the First Khazarkar Empire mobilized an armada of nearly 150 ships. The mission of this naval force was to ravage the fledgling settlements on Hells Womb and sink any enemy vessels they encountered.
The Elderaunt spies became aware of this mobilization and promptly organized a similarly sized fleet in response. The Ivory Asylum located the Khazarkars' fleet anchored at Satheon. Suffering from a lack of water and damage from a cyclone, the Khazarkars were ill-prepared for battle. The Ivory Asylum blockaded the bay, deploying fire-ships and war galleys. The conflict raged throughout the day and into the night, the bay illuminated by the burning and sinking hulls. The intense fighting resulted in friendly ships accidentally ramming each other and becoming entangled in the collapsed masts' rigging. Under the cover of darkness and magic, only twenty Khazarkar warships managed to escape. The battle consumed over 170 vessels and claimed the lives of more than 25,000 sailors, consigning them to watery graves. For a prolonged period thereafter, the Khazarkar Empire's navy was a mere shadow of its former might. This crushing naval defeat is also considered one of the primary factors that led to the Eldritch Civil War (1017 - 1027).
The Battle of Satheon concluded the Sorfandien War (1008 - 1016).
