Around 950 HE, a Drachlaz Lord named Kezgihr arrived on Hezmort's southern coasts, establishing the foundation for the initial Blood Cult beyond the borders of Karterus.
Named Hlotho Zîn, it expanded swiftly across the southern coasts of Talorion over the ensuing six centuries. A region both verdant and replete with "humanoid fodder," the plan was to progress cautiously and methodically. Whenever one group grew too large, another blood cult was established in a distinct hunting territory. By 1500 HE, the vampires' sustenance had diminished to the point that only their living minions remained to feed upon. As these were exterminated by blood-starved vampires driven to feral savagery, the vampires readied themselves for a substantial migration northward.
Traversing the desolate sands proved the most reliable means of restoring our numbers. Each day, I encounter an old companion, once a fervent participant in some of the grandest blood rituals beyond the confines of Drachlaz.
excerpt from the "Crossing the Barba'gom"
Most of the vampires of what became known as The Hunger perished in the crossing of the Barba'gom. Those who survived, reaching the verdant northern lands, swiftly joined the Feeding of Kezgihr (1552 HE - 1798 HE), the deadliest blood orgy to date.
In the First Epoch, Hlotho Zîn relocated their operations to the shores of Kalaran, infiltrating Zujukiz and other Shou city-states. During the Second Epoch, they established a sister branch in Undercity, which later became their headquarters after Shounejo's religious leaders issued a decree for their eradication. While among the Shou, the organization adopted a set of values that prioritized devotion to the cult above all else, akin to the Bushido code. Their military wing then began training martial disciples in the ways of the samurai, while others were instructed as monks and shugenja.
In the Black Tide War (1465 - 1486), the vampires of Hlotho Zîn collaborated extensively with the Black Tide. Their skilled intelligence gathering was indispensable to the war effort; in return, they maintained a reliable source of sustenance.
After a plentiful crop, relish the abundance, indulge heartily, for such yields do not endure indefinitely.
Kezgihr, from his renowned work Kurthac Taloraz - "The Primary Tenet of Kezgihr"
In the Breached Pass Campaign, 13 Hlotho Zîn samurai served under Katrana as her elite Princes of Blood.
