Ahnuthall rose to the esteemed position of demon lord through his triumphs in the Abyssal Release ( 7777 DE - 8777 DE ) . Throughout this conflict, he emerged victorious in every battle against the primordials ; however, some note that he never confronted an army directly commanded by one of the battle-hardened Primordial Lords. Ahnuthall's military brilliance faltered during the Demon Spawn War. Cornered by superior forces led by the rival demon lord Orcus, he was captured. Orcus, in a gracious gesture, allowed Ahnuthall to maintain his demon lord status, but he must now pledge fealty to Orcus for 666 years. It is rumored that Orcus kept Ahnuthall in check by threatening to reveal his true name.

One's true name is a bind to their psyche and essence. If a conjurer gains possession of this, they can summon the creature from across the multiverse. For the conjured, this may result in torment by spiritwrack and potentially death at the hands of righteous summoners, prolonged imprisonment, use as a bargaining chip for ransom, or as an instrument to wreak havoc upon one's enemies.

In the Demon Spawn War, Orcus assigned Ahnuthall with the task of establishing a base in Ohtarion. In this sector of the High Wood Country and others, he battled the forces of the archangel Naraz-Nâru. After four decades of war, Ahnuthall was driven out of the region. He next appeared in the highlands of Grashakh. Orcus had sent him to this area to counter the threat of Demogorgon, who sought to take control of it. The opposing Demon armies spent more time and resources fighting each other than combating those of the Quara'tun Covenant.

In the Bowkrak hills, Ahnuthall attempted to bring a demon city from the Abyssal world of Azu'tzor through a rift. This endeavor ended in disaster, with weave spiders sealing the rift as it emerged. The city broke apart as the rift shrank, obliterating tens of thousands of demons and slaves. Ahnuthall was the only one capable of opening such a large rift, and he paid the price for testing his mettle against the Web's guardians. Records of the God Era are scarce, but it is clear that Ahnuthall, in desperation, sought to bring a city packed with demon soldiers to Bowkrak in order to retake the hills from the goblin mercenary general Maglubiyet and defeat the demon armies converging on the area. These allied armies were serving under Demogorgon and Baphomet. The falling debris from the shattered city weakened Maglubiyet's army, leading to its destruction as well. The downfall of these armies did not end there, as the victors soon turned on each other, fighting over the goblin's rich supply train. The battered foes found no respite, as aerial units of Bahamut came and strafed the area for days, annihilating both demon armies. This series of events and conflicts became known as the Battle of Ahnuthall Fall. For the Quara'tun Covenant, this was a major victory, as they had to do practically nothing but watch as four enemy armies destroyed each other, with the loss of well over 100,000 enemy combatants.
