In the Hoof Front ( 215 GE - 230 GE ) , Orcus discovered a way to transport a Progeny of Baltalas from its homeworld Muspelheim to Bal-Kriav. Unable to control the fearsome entity known as Kerath, it carved a destructive path through the demon city of Ghak before breaching the surface. Rampaging westward, it slaughtered numerous demons that attempted to impede its advance. When it reached the Covenant battle lines under Bahamut, the forces wisely gave it a wide berth. Owing to its dim-witted nature, this Progeny of Baltalas was lured into a trap set by Geb and an army of earth elementals. After falling into a spinning vortex of stones, Bahamut sealed the rubble with a breath that solidified the mass. A chimney was created to allow the mighty Kerath to vent its rage, raining molten rock, ash, and smoke. Even with these measures, Atlas forged great chains, the Kerath Anchors, binding Kerath to the volcano growing around it.
The volcano Sken Drog, Draconic for Chained Lord, is the encasing, the prison of the primordial Kerath. A living volcano, it has been erupting in wrath for countless years, only quelling when it replenishes its energy from its own conduits to Muspelheim's fiery core. The scorched lands of Kii Paagol, situated south and east of the volcano, are the consequence of Kerath's seemingly eternal rage.
In the Demon Spawn War ( 89 GE - 269 GE ) , Sken Drog's lava stone was employed in the construction of an impressive line of fortifications known as the Viiz Bo Rei.
