Erochel is a vast Underdark forest, or fungal, situated within an immense grotto known as Sigan-Kûn. The majority of this fungal expanse extends along the shimmering waters of the river Favánë. The mushrooms, fungal stalks, and other flora of this forest are colossal in size, rivaling the scale of certain surface forests. The magical luminescence of the Favánë has also given rise to other unusual plants and lifeforms. Erochel is perpetually abuzz with flying insects and other creatures. The towering height and breadth of the grotto encompassing Erochel is a consequence of the Nermanis Sea's drainage into the Underdark. The rushing seawater carved out a massive area that has since become a haven for many lifeforms.
Long ago, due to their conflicts with the Zandûl-Khâl, the Mulun-Dûna experimented with a race of plant creatures known as the Myconid. Researchers from Mulun-Dûna, primarily those of the Shinszelmoggit family, procured pixie dust from unscrupulous merchants based in Phalkhîr. When mixed into the canals feeding the myconid's farms, it triggered a population explosion, leading to a significant increase in myconid joining Mulun-Dûna's army. However, when Phalkhîr discovered that their neighbors were militarizing the pixie dust, this trade came to an end.
Following a decade of espionage, the Shinszelmoggits discovered the source of the unique dust, an alien substance considerably more potent than that produced by the Pixie of Bal-Kriav. The Shinszelmoggits ascertained the dust was originating from the opposite side of a feywild fuse.
The Shinszelmoggits, lacking experience with the diverse myconid species they encountered, sought to sterilize their own Myconid population. They then turned to obtaining more from the other side, the Kriav type, which proved more cunning and robust.
Neblin Shinszelmoggit, the accomplished alchemist, authored the renowned work "The Myconid Solution"
