Ghar-Lakh is a vast and formidable swamp situated to the northeast of Paradomea City. Nestled within a pocket surrounded by towering mountain ranges and rolling hills, during the summer months the region lies within the grip of the Temporal Zephyr, transforming into a hot, oppressive, and humid environment reminiscent of the nearby Kamoni jungle.
The area's hazards encompass swarms of insects, basilisks, will-o'-wisps, and the unwelcoming Graagvrii; descendants of an army that served under Demogorgon during the Demon Spawn War (89 GE - 269 GE).
The region's more intelligent inhabitants leverage the swamp's abundant peat reserves as a fuel source for fires and commerce. During the Great Exodus (998 - 1017), the Tragarans arrived on the southern shores of Lirgaza, where they commenced rebuilding their civilization and trading with the Graagvrii north of their settlements.
The Graagvrii engaged in conflict with the Kal-Oneans over mineral claims in the Mynzuth hills. This Ghar-Lakh War concluded in 1022 with the Kal-Oni consenting to share a portion of their mining proceeds. This commercial relationship, in addition to several military pacts, remains intact under the Paradomean Empire.
The noxious weed known as Wastial Scrub flourishes in this region. This plant serves as fodder for the waste cows and other herbivorous creatures. As a defensive mechanism, numerous creatures within this ecosystem have mastered the ability to expel the potent methane gas generated by the consumption of this weed. These wetlands harbor thousands of methane pods. The more intelligent denizens of this area leverage these trees as formidable weapons to incapacitate their prey.
