This immense tower stands among six ancient, colossal trunks. These trunks are petrified, said to be the first trees of the Elberiel Forest. The elves of Galadriël constructed a 350-foot-high tower from a cherry-colored stone imported from distant lands. Galadriël invested significant time and resources in creating this place, as a family of five phoenixes had come to reside in the area. Renowned for their uncontrolled fires at rest, Viressur was built as a sanctuary for the phoenixes and, more importantly, to preserve the surrounding forest.

In the Black Tide War, spanning from 1465 to 1486, Viressur served as a haven for Galadriël's people and nearly a thousand fey. Galadriël's citizens sought refuge here due to the devastating fires ignited by the dragon relic, Zuwuth Uv Enkii.

Katrana, a Black Tide leader responsible for operations in the Hadraniel Sector, was determined not to allow them to remain entrenched in Viressur's magical environment. In 1478, a great battle unfolded around Viressur, with phoenixes igniting undead soldiers by the hundreds beneath their vast wings of fire, as Sorimo soldiers, Satyrs, centaurs, and other fey combatted Katrana's undead army. Unbeknownst to most of the defenders, Viressur also served as a vault for two perilous artifacts. The sword Blizzard was extracted from temporal stasis, and fearing the consequences of the site's capture, some say it was persuaded, but regardless, the Witch artifact erected an icy globe around Viressur, placing all its occupants under temporal stasis. They remained in this state, nearly 20,000 souls, until 1533 when the heroes of Golden Elite breached Viressur and terminated Blizzard's spell.

After the Athenian Crusade (1539 - 1551), Viressur once more became the exclusive domain of the phoenixes. Viressur houses hundreds of chambers, secret passages, and ancient magical vaults, the latter of which are secured behind treacherous mazes and considered among the most impenetrable in the realm. These vaults are constructed in three layers: Naanabrak, saranite, and blutium, and to reach them, one must navigate past numerous traps, constructs, and magical guardians. One of the most renowned is the Vault of Blizzard and Firestorm, and even if someone were to gain access, they would likely perish from the wrath of the two artifacts sequestered within. Blizzard and Firestorm have grown increasingly reclusive, rarely admitting visitors. Some sages believe that though the items possess the sentience of dragons, their spirits roam the realm as if they were still living, and an audience or possession of the artifacts is said to draw their spirits back into the weapons, which they perceive as prisons.

Ancedote - Golden Elite

Inside the icy dome, we discovered the fabled Blizzard relic - a staff that could summon devastating winter storms. Nearby lay the Firestorm relic - a mystical scepter capable of conjuring powerful fiery blasts. Carefully examining these ancient artifacts, we marveled at their impressive magical abilities.

The stalwart members of the Golden Elite pursued the troll tracks as they delved deep into one of the hills surrounding the towering ice dome. Soon, they discovered a cavernous expanse, its winding passages adorned with glistening crystal stalagmites and stalactites. Traces of a fierce battle from ages past were evident throughout the expansive chambers and corridors.

As we entered the treasury, we encountered the frigid linnorm Lantercold and his outlaw rider Silithev-Ite. I bid them adieu on their journey to Hade's somber realm.

Galtrag, from his personal diaries - "Diary - 5 Bloom 1533"

Deeper within the crystalline cavern, we gazed upon a shattered statue of a unicorn that once served as a fountain. The jade-lined pool surrounding the statue was desecrated with bones, corroding armor, and weaponry. Beyond the pool stood a rocky outcropping with a rough 100-foot-diameter base supporting a mound of statues, vases, paintings, coins, gems, jeweled weaponry, and many other treasures. Two massive statues, laboriously erected from the remains of a dragon and a giant, stood guard. These were the former guardians of this place, long since perished, as told in the Year 1503, when the Battle of Viressur was waged here. I was able to identify them as the titan Dranfulmus and the great silver dragon Tindarâpha, both fallen before the magic of Katrana, the chilling breath of Lantercold, and the bonebrack arrows of Silithev-Ite.

The fountain was cleansed and its waters imbued with potent restorative properties - presumably through the benevolence of Athena. We collected the abundant treasures of the site, concealing what we could not readily transport. Our spoils amassed to a veritable hoard befitting an elder wyrm.

We departed the subterranean cavern via one of its numerous interconnected passages. One such passageway led past the expansive roots of a colossal oak, easily measuring 30 feet in diameter, and upon traversing this natural wonder, we were struck with a profound sense of awe at the sight that lay before us.

Stepping through the ancient oak tree, we viewed a site which likely mirrored the lands of the Sylvan Kingdoms - trimmed hedges and flowers, vineyards, grottos, rich forest scents, natural-looking trees, unlike the twisted and sinister ones on the other side, with sunlight caressing the forest floor. There stood a 300-foot-high red stone tower housing five massive openings. The tree behind us was also remarkably beautiful, supporting a tree house with possibly ten or more levels. Throughout the vast forested hills surrounding us, we could easily see hundreds, if not thousands, of woodland creatures - small animals, sprites, unicorns, fairy dragons, and thousands of wood elf refugees from the Galadriël Kingdom. Centaurs and satyrs numbered in the hundreds, and we even encountered a small village of Gimrune and their mechanically-inspired homes.

Several hundred feet from where we stood was a jade-tiled square with four basalt obelisks at each corner. In the center of this square rested a malachite pedestal, and atop it was a large hourglass. Sand, ever so slowly, trickled from the rune-carved device. Upon approaching this spectacle, a massive feathered serpent, likely a couatl, emerged through a briar hedge. The creature hissed:

If you are virtuous, then you can lift the time veil of Viressur. Shatter the hourglass, and the magic will be dispelled, but in doing so, I will perish as time catches up with me and I fade to dust. It is a difficult choice, but do what is right. I can say no more.

coutl's sacrifice

The noble entity was to be sacrificed for the greater good, a supremely honorable course of action. We heeded the call and recognized the necessity of this deed.

The hourglass was shattered, and the entities were liberated from their temporal confinement. The most formidable champions of virtue to join our crusade were the phoenixes dwelling in Viressur and the druidic protectorate of the Lands of Purity, Oakenbeard. The rest, as they say, is history; with their assistance, and that of the other inhabitants of the region, we overwhelmed the armies of Katrana, expelling her from the Sylvan Kingdoms.
