In 1533, the heroes of the Golden Elite liberated the peoples of Elberial. At Viressur, they discovered a book elucidating the history behind two artifacts. The tome revealed that each artifact possessed the consciousness of an ancient dragon, scion of the peaks of Fros Idar, one a crimson dragon, the other an ivory dragon. Both were profoundly malevolent, yet madly enamored with one another. For nearly a decade, they unleashed ruin upon the Witch Horde. Over the subsequent decade, the so-called Court of Fire and Ice exacted a steep tribute. In 1037, the draconic menace was vanquished. Grown complacent from the tribute, the dragons were deceived and slain, along with 1,000 Theegan to flame, frost, and talon. When the two dragons perished, the witches of Hex Rangian, adept in capturing the psyche of wandering soul energy, imprisoned the two dragons in mystical vessels.

Blizzard and Firestorm were created through a Ritual of Dragon Binding. The spell's recipe was discovered in Foropode's old home, the Snowflake Manse, but its execution came at a considerable cost. For a decade, a coven of highly skilled enchanters labored to produce a functional artefact. A breakthrough occurred in 1043, when an agent of Orcus divulged the location of a mystical forge known as Silfergaths Bile.

The information was carefully scrutinized, and the agent of Orcus was mercilessly interrogated to extract the truth; it is said that Orcus himself took a particular delight in his pawn's misfortune. After scouring over a dozen sources, they found no credible reference to any mystical forge. The notion of a quarter of the Witch Horde's leaders gathered in a remote and vulnerable location, engaged in the crafting of magical items, presented a prime opportunity for their adversaries. Fortunately for them, they remained unbothered.

At Snowflake Manse, within a forge area once utilized by Foropode, six members of the Hex Rangian diligently labored to create two legendary artifacts. The enchantments invoked during their fabrication, binding the souls of two ancient dragons, tore a rift in the Web of Magic. Today, eight centuries later, this opening, the Caina Nexus, continues to cause complications across the frigid landscapes of the Gelugon Range.

At Silfergaths Bile, the weapons became the new conduits of the Court of Fire and Ice. An icy lance, suitable for any mounted combatant, was christened Blizzard. The other, a scimitar that unleashed scorching flames, was dubbed Firestorm. While formidable when wielded separately, they proved devastatingly effective when combined.

In the Witch-Pack War (1190 - 1240), a succession of Witch Commanders wielded the devastating powers of Blizzard and Firestorm, unifying the Witch Horde in an unprecedented manner. The potent use of these weapons caused such severe environmental destruction that it drew the attention of powerful druids and mages. The final wielder of these weapons was ultimately defeated by Black Wood and a team from the Arch-Mages of Merioss.

On the 5th of Hollow, in the year 1222, Blizzard and Firestorm were safely ensconced within the secure vaults of Viressur.
