Armorn was forged during the Black Tide War (1465 - 1486). A mighty lich named Katrana utilized an artifact called the Elder Orb of Embers to incite great upheaval in the Sylvan Kingdoms. The artifact's power led to the creation of two highly active and volatile volcanoes in Ginzarak. These eruptions weakened the neighboring volcano of Gûn by siphoning its lava tubes. The explosions of Armorn caused devastating conflagrations and earthquakes in the southern and southwestern lands, inflicting substantial damage on Galadriël's domains and compelling many of its denizens to seek refuge within the walls of Viressur.
Armorn fell into dormancy when the Golden Elite utilized the Ankh of Phalgas to purify the Sylvan Kingdoms. The lava tubes that once nourished Armorn were largely sealed by the Ankh, yet in the dark recesses beneath the volcano, a region of volatile activity continues to persist. This Underdark area is known as Radîn-Zukthol. The smoke emanating from this region rises through chimneys and old lava tubes, escaping from Armorn.
