The Pyrmidian Ghouls are a hybrid form of undead creatures. They are the self-proclaimed custodians of all the Pyramids of Power. These entities are compelled to safeguard the pyramids, for it is where they originate and reside. When they approach a Pyramid of Power, they become magically bound to its protection.

After some discussion, Krivian and his elite Angrod guard entered a secret door. They passed into the confines of the Pyramid of Nature. The explorers wandered the many levels of the grand structure, but found nothing of interest, as the entire place seemed sealed up. Their attempts at magic could not penetrate the walls or open the doors. They then came upon a passage where light and sound were twisted, and even movement appeared slowed and distorted. These adventurers had entered an area known as the Diametric Nexus, where the forces of two energy matrices clashed against one another. Those who passed through these fields of positive and negative energy were forever transformed, becoming a hybrid state between the living and the dead - an undead existence. These bestial creatures then captured others of their tribe, subjecting them to the Diametric Nexus, thereby expanding their numbers. This behavior is thought to stem from a combination of a need for companionship and a desire to bolster their chances of survival through strength in numbers.

Pyrmidian Ghouls propagate their species through this identical process. They either capture or obtain them from local slave traders. Over time, the other sapient Pyramids of Power emulated this practice. Each constructed a guardian from the surrounding populace. This mimicry of another Pyramid's actions has led to the inference that the Pyramids of Power possess a method of communicating with one another.

Veslospan, of Angrod - "Crafting Pyrmidian Ghouls, Year 352 "

Those transformed into Pyrmidian Ghouls are forever frozen at their current maturity level. This implies that individuals of young age are frequently ineligible for retrieval to a Pyramid of Power.

His thoughts drifted back to 1462. During the Retribution Campaign, he had discovered Negral in a Pyramid of Power. He had been much too young to have endured the transformation into a ghoul, but such was the fate of those who resided in close proximity to one of these ancient structures. These pyramids, six in total, were products of the Lith-Crillion civilization, constructed as research centers where they studied everything outside of them as if the inhabitants were lower life-forms. After the Lith-Crillion race vanished, the Pyramidian Ghouls emerged as a defensive measure. The Pyramids had created them to serve as guardians, replacing lost numbers or augmenting populations by capturing mortals and infusing them with the Pyramid's power. The outcome was a hybrid undead, half-ghoul and half the original race before the conversion.

from the Godspawn Saga

Pyramidian Ghouls shun the radiance of day. As hybrid undead, they are impervious to turning, possess a degree of resistance to negative energy, and are susceptible to the baleful effects of positive energy. The Pyramidian Ghouls vary based on the specific Pyramid of Power that created them. Yet, they share a common trait of dull black eyes and gaunt physiques. Bereft of the capacity for procreation, they replenish their ranks by "acquiring" new recruits willing to undergo transformation.
