The Pyramids of Power are colossal structures meticulously engineered to harness energy from a proximate source. The inaugural of these, the Pyramid of Life, was designed to accumulate life energy from the skeletal remains of a fallen archangel named Anubis.
The Pyramids of Power, though no longer used for that purpose, were once revered as temples dedicated to Ptah. As each were constructed and interconnected, they amplified the divine energy of his devoted worshippers, precipitating what some have described as a contentious Ascension.
The Pyramid of Power stands 1200 feet tall, with a third of its structure built underground. Once used by the Lith-Crillion as living quarters and research facilities, these colossal structures feature dozens of levels, hundreds of secret passages and chambers, where movement is hindered by mechanical and magical traps or shifting rooms and walls. Certain areas within the Pyramids are only accessible through teleportation chambers. During the reign of the Lith-Crillion, these magical chambers facilitated the transportation of personnel and supplies between the Pyramids scattered across Midrêth.
The capacity of a Pyramid of Power to accumulate a particular energy derives from an organism inhabiting its walls and floors. An offspring of Âni-Zandân, these organisms derive sustenance from the surrounding environment. The Pyramid of Nature thrives on natural energy, while the Pyramid of Merioss draws upon solar energy.
The Pyramid of Merioss stands partially submerged in the saline marshes of Kautha. The radiant glow of Khâls Forge and Merioss casts an eerie, mist-like haze over the landscape. In this haze, I perceive what others cannot - unseen filaments ensnaring the mist, drawing power from the distant star.
