The Toadoolp Twists began as two entropic ponds. During the Demon Spawn War (89 GE - 269 GE), those serving Blibdoolpoolp utilized these ponds to create a people who would function as workers, soldiers, and eventually, worshipers. Hapless humanoid captives were tossed into these pools of Chaotic energy, transforming them into Kuo-toa. After extensive experimentation, the aboleth scientists leading the effort discovered that the Grimlock had the greatest chance of surviving the transformation. Tragically, the pursuit of the Grimlock resulted in a devastating toll on their population, creating a lasting animosity between Blibdoolpoolp and Tarâk.

In the Brucrumus underworld, it was a common sight to encounter demons engaged in the trafficking of hapless Grimlock. Numerous slave masters, wanted for deserting their posts, were purportedly meant to be waging war, not establishing a livelihood. Corruption led even a few demon lords to render the Covenant, my former master, less of a priority. They became more preoccupied with the lucrative opportunities presented by the Grimlock trade, forlorn souls destined for my entropic ponds.

Blibdoolpoolp, from the Book of Unthink - "Grimlock Trade" Blibdoolpoolp, the Sea Mother, is a powerful deity revered within the aquatic realms of the Forgotten Realms campaign setting. Worshipped primarily by kuo-toa, Blibdoolpoolp demands total subservience and unquestioning loyalty from her followers. Those who refuse to bow to her will face the wrath of her immense power.

When Blibdoolpoolp attained the status of a Higher Power (261 GE), she had to relinquish her active role in expanding the territory of her kuo-toan people across the Mortal Systems. Additionally, she forfeited the ability to control the ebb of her entropic ponds, releasing their energy back to Chaos. Closing the link to Chaos necessitated anchoring the other end to an alternative location. Cognizant of her progression towards Ascension, Blibdoolpoolp meticulously surveyed choice areas across Bal-Kriav's subterranean expanse, regions that would be most suitable for her Kuo-toa. As she departed for her new abode on Inguvile, she severed these conduits, creating rifts that occasionally transport travelers to distant lands.

The Toadoolp Twists are frequently mistaken for whirlpools, yet they do not draw objects into them. Rather, a creature must intentionally enter them and possess sufficient air in their lungs for up to five minutes of submersion. The travel time, fully submerged, from one Toadoolp Twist to the next is random, as is the destination. It is even conceivable to enter a Toadoolp Twist and, moments later, find oneself gazing at the very same location one just swam into.

Use of a Toadoolp Twist poses an additional peril. They necessitate fuel in the form of the voyager's own life energy. Each utilization depletes the traveler of 10% of their life energy (tantamount to 10% of their maximum hit points, recoverable through standard means). If an entity lacks life energy, such as an undead or construct, they are incapable of entering these rifts.

The kuo-toa of Âkhi utilized these rifts to settle distant regions. Departing the Toadoolp Twists at Blibdoolpoolp Bosom, a sufficient number eventually arrived in Arkan-Ragûm, where they established the city of Dilkuglapgon.
