Cthorgo is a starless, yet not devoid of illumination, expanse of the Imgangreth sea.

In the western region of Cthorgo lie the submerged caverns of Othmogla. This area is deeply afflicted by the presence of the undead, governed by an ancient Drow lich known as Menethor.

The Great Tradeway traverses the sea along a series of islands. Some of these are connected by bridges, while the remaining require ferry or swimming passage. The central island houses the ruined city of Belephant-Elebros. This settlement fell during the Tradeway Wars, yet its Vampire Queen, now with a dwindling retinue, still lays claim to the ruin and the surrounding sea lanes. Most travelers along the Great Tradway bypass this area, opting for wider detours around the haunted ruins and its bloodthirsty ruler.

Cthorgo serves as a vital source of sustenance for many communities and witnesses considerable commercial activity. Some of the Underdark trade traversing this sea is transported to passages leading to the surface, where it is distributed to holdings within the Tormoran Federation, the Orchish Empire, the Crimson Eye, and numerous smaller factions.

Cthorgo can be directly accessed from the surface through shafts that plummet from the Knur Slagming area down to the sea's roof. This is a lengthy expedition necessitating a climb of up to two miles, typically undertaken by flying. A bard from the Marching Twenty composed a poem about these shafts, referring to them as Phalgas's Eyelids. Accounts of that party of adventurers state they employed magic to descend into one of Phalgas's Eyelids and explore the vicinity of Cthorgo. Even after their two-mile descent through the shaft, they still had another mile to fly before reaching the dark waters of an Underdark sea.
