The Torc Wars were thirteen conflicts waged over three relics forged during the Creation War by a necro-infused primordial known as Maen Grirngrim. Imbued with immense power, the Torcs of Maen Grirngrim possessed the capacity to transform mere mortals into demigods, drawing their potency from the souls of previous owners, the three archangels slain by Maen Grirngrim, and a fraction of their maker's essence.

Riveted to the wearer's head, these artifacts seamlessly integrate with the user until death, transferring a portion of the power from a deceased previous owner to a new living owner. Initially, the transference of these hallowed relics from the departed to their successor was conducted in a just manner.

It did not require much time for this to alter, with the allure of apparently ever-increasing power leading to dubious fatalities within families, followed by tribal chiefs being slain by internal rivals, and then nations engaging in warfare with the sole purpose of asserting a claim to a Torc of Maen Grirngrim.

Amân Balthôn, renowned Durkoth historian, meticulously transcribed the captivating tale etched upon the Tablets of Inendeep - "Maen Grirngrim's Traps"

With a diminished birthrate among humanoids, the numerous wars over the Torcs of Maen Grirngrim exacted a heavy toll on the Durkoth population. To compensate for their declining numbers, the Durkoth waged war against the "backwards peoples" on the fringes of their empires, subjugating the Sussgurd, the Theegan, and the Dromite.

In the final year of the Torc Wars, the Horgon Confederacy (159 HE - 537 HE) was established. This union of victors was created to deter further conflicts over the Torcs. Its leaders were Krak-Oth, Neld-Rac, and Rioch Tetrax, each a revered Saint of Maen. Under their stewardship, the realm witnessed periods of peace and prosperity, as well as occasional wars, yet never again did they battle over the right to wear a Torc of Maen Grirngrim.
