Paradomea's Doom Squads are quasi-military units that serve as the backbone of the empire's police force when not at war. Typically comprising former Mutant slaves from Alluvium Deep or seasoned mutant miners from Undercity, these units undergo magical and psychic surgeries, transforming the soldiers into fearless, disciplined fighters with superhuman pain tolerance - the Doom Soldiers. Supported by armored half-flesh golems and an assortment of magical beasts, the squads may also be given drugs like Maniac Conduit to heighten their awareness.
Each squad numbers 10 to 30 doom soldiers of the 6th to 10th level. Nearly all of them don the full-length Stasis Robes and are equipped with an assortment of other magical gear.
The Mutant Progress Bureau is the sole entity engaged in Doom Squads. This company holds an exclusive contract with the Council of Nine and is prohibited from selling them without the Council's authorization. One notable instance occurred when the Pillar of Horns, captained by the Emperor of Ba'lith, visited Paradomea City. During this business trip, the emperor's adopted son, Negral, was permitted to acquire a Doom Soldier designated as Unit AT-26.
