In the Creation War (1486 DE - 8777 DE), Anubis was elevated to the status of Archangel, serving as the Keeper of the Dead for the Covenant. Through powerful rituals, the origins of the shamanic arts, he guided the souls of the afterlife, ensuring that soul energy was not diverted from its course to one of the Soul Gathering Systems.
On 19 Temporal 4509 DE, in the remote northern reaches of the present-day Sands of Hell, the renowned Covenant hero Anubis was slain by the ancient primordial entity known as Asoun. Subsequent to the tragic demise of this esteemed figure, his mortal remains were recovered from the sands and entombed within the hallowed Pyramid of Anubis.
The disruptive force of his adversary far exceeded our capabilities. It was akin to the Sea of Entropy, breaking down all into its constituent elements; his mind unraveled into mere psychic energy, with memories irrevocably lost.
Despite the CIB's counsel, they rendered a verdict in favor of Kebechet, the daughter of a fallen father - the remains of Anubis are to be interred at the location where he perished.
