In the Cinazan Front, this Minâth lich became a double agent, serving the theocratic government of the Khazarkar Empire as well as the interests of the Ishtu Irrai.
The general nods, pivots, and departs, leaving Set's subordinates behind. He is averse to accepting directives from those situated far from the battlefield, particularly from the east.
The exarch surveys the group, remarking, "It would appear that Tanazarân's assessment was accurate."
Two months ago, Exarch Tanazarân of the frontier stronghold Hulkurân learned from his spies that Neeth-Theen was nearing completion of their Entropy Arch. In a frantic effort to avert what might prove calamitous for all of Cinazan and possibly the continent, at his own expense and with promises of substantial rewards, he assembled the Maul Seekers. These are teams dispatched to locate the weapon rumored to be the sole means of shattering an Entropy Arch.
from the Godspawn Saga
Serving the interests of the Ishtu Irrai, he steered the Hulkurân Zagar on a path that he hoped would benefit the general populace of the Khazarkar Empire rather than the interests of the Khazarkar theocracy, the Pharzîmrâth. At the time, he was also a well-regarded member of the Tarkazgir, a branch of the Khazarkar government that served as religious authorities for a region and acted as governors. Tanazarân was one of twenty Exarchs distributed across Cinazan, promoting the ideals of Set and assisting in the management of the empire.
As the Exarch of the frontier stronghold Hulkurân, he persistently supplied the empire's capital with crucial data. This intel occasionally encompassed individuals aiding the Ishtu Irrai cause, either overtly or covertly. When questioned about why he didn't do more to safeguard those assisting their shared objectives, such as delaying or withholding information sent to his superiors, he once replied:
Step back and consider the bigger picture. The Cinazan Front is merely one facet of the broader Chaos War. There is a grander scheme at work, the full extent of which remains unclear even to the most informed. It is essential that we avoid allowing our emotions to cloud our judgment. We must be vigilant and ensure we are not being manipulated.
Tanazarân, to Migarzôn (Malbazân loyalist) - "Contemplating the Broader Perspective"
In 1832, Hulkurân was sacked by units of the Flux Pact. Tanazarân was killed in this assault. He later revived himself through his phylactery and went in search of the Hulkurân Zagar. They vanished, a consequence of the individual who assumed control after his death. Tanazarân discovered their discarded bones, most severely melted by dragon acid. He persuaded the dragon to relinquish the bones or endure the scorching rays of Arcana. He transported their remains to Phollûmâ. Within this ancient angelic stronghold, he revived them with a relic that reincarnated them with their minds intact, yet endowed with the skills and abilities of a heroic soul from Valhalla. The last words Tanazarân imparted were the Valhalla Battle Prayer, and upon its conclusion, he was consumed by holy fire and taken from this world to serve as an angel of Arcana.
Lo, there I perceive my father. Lo, there I discern my mother. My sisters and my brothers. Lo, there I observe my people. Back to the origin. Lo, there they beckon me. And request that I assume my position. Within the Halls of Valhalla. Where the valiant may dwell eternally.
