Like no other war before it, the Chaos War has entangled numerous empires in its violent conflict. To date, over four hundred thousand lives have been claimed in the fighting, with several cities reduced to rubble, some transformed into Chaos Ruins, and entire empires eradicated from existence.
The war erupted in Hleittil when the region was swept by the tempestuous winds of the Chaos Maelstrom. In 1828, a direct descendant of a Slaad Hexos, the black slaad Ushgergoon, marshaled the entire fighting-age populace of Neeth-Theen. This Chaos War commenced in the northern reaches of Brucrumus with the Cinazan Front. It then rapidly expanded outward to other continents and regions, without any discernible pattern.
Until 1832, the war was blamed on the Chaos Maelstrom, with Neeth-Theen considered a casualty of its chaotic emanations. This perception shifted after an Entropy Arch was opened in the Khazarkar city Sapthiladân. The Entropy Arch created a rift between Chaos and the world Bal-Kriav. From this rift emerged the primordial lord Drachmon and the 3rd Horde of Chaos. As a Primordial Lord, some believe Drachmon is the true leader of the Flux Pact and the driving force behind the war's initiation.
