The Eye of Gith is an immense earth mote with a diameter of five miles. During the Creation War, spanning from 1486 DE to 8777 DE, The Eyes, a group of seven floating fortresses, traversed the Astral Sea in support of the Covenant's war efforts.
The Eye of Gith, as it is more commonly known to many Githyanki, was employed by the Covenant general Phalgas. Its principal armament was a glass tube spanning the entirety of the five-mile-wide celestial body, functioning as a colossal magnifying lens. Phalgas's soldiers utilized this tube to focus the rays of Merioss and Khâls Forge upon their primordial foes. After the Eye's reflective mirrors diminished in potency, it was reclassified for troop and transport duties.
Near the conclusion of the Demon Spawn War (89 GE - 269 GE), the Eye of Gith was relinquished to the Astral Sea. In 899, a vessel of the Har'kish Empire discovered the abandoned battle station.
In 919, the researchers of Har'kish mastered the techniques to activate the Eye of Gith and safely traverse the Astral Sea. It took another ten years before they solved the challenge of opening a spatial rift. An army was stationed at Rib'git as well as in various forts and encampments. These forces then conducted raids, intimidating some settlements merely by the presence of the floating Eye of Gith, while waging war against others. The Eye of Gith transformed what had been a minor empire into a formidable power.
The Eye of Gith boasts numerous structures on its surface and even more beneath. One of these is a building-sized device capable of opening a spatial rift, enabling the Eye of Gith to depart the Astral Sea and enter one of Nawirrûs's systems. At the heart of the rock lies the navigation and engine room. The engine, rumored to be a sentient being, propels the Eye of Gith across the Astral Sea at a velocity far exceeding the mental movement of an individual through this domain. Another essential feature is a god-forged artillery piece, the Har'kish known as the Hand of Gith.
Once a rugged and barren locale, the Har'kish have expended immense effort, terraforming it through magical means and procuring unusual fauna and lifeforms from across numerous worlds. This "greening" has transformed the Eye of Gith into a place capable of sustaining many thousands, yet insufficient for the present-day population. With a population of 50,000 souls, half of their food and water necessities are obtained from the empire's land holdings dispersed across a half-dozen worlds.
The Eye of Gith has two principal civilization centers. One is the citadel of Rib'git, which safeguards the installation's super weapon. The second citadel lies on the opposite side of the rock, five miles distant. It is known as Tritium-Psyche. This installation functions as the empire's scientific and research city, where prestigious schools of psionic study outnumber those dedicated to the mage's craft.
