In the First Epoch, a group of Tamlêrran sorcerers constructed six towering monoliths. Serving as conduits of esoteric energy, they would become the anchors for a formidable ward. The wizards responsible for building these monoliths were the most accomplished mages of Magrâbik. The undertaking proved challenging, costly, and initially resulted in the demise of several arch-mages.

It is intriguing to note that we have yet to be harried or eviscerated by the weave spiders. We dabble on the fringes of the Web of Magic and still no attacks - could it be that they know we do Arcana's work? We shall soon discern if their passivity persists when we stand at their doorstep, poised to pierce the Web and harness its power for a noble endeavor.

Urizamar, Cornerstone Inquisitor of the Arcanum of Yatthanûr, from a personal journal - "Monolith Makers"

After extensive experimentation, the mages discovered that a minimum of ten individuals, combining their arcane talents, was necessary to empower each monolith. The initial two structures were constructed along the southern border of Magrâbik, where it adjoins the fiery domains of Anubeth, with the counterpart positioned at the juncture of Magrâbik and the frozen wastelands of Igas.

The Magrâbik Monoliths are constructed from rune-carved stones called Tolm. Each monolith serves as a conduit for tapping into the Web of Magic, drawing arcane energy to power a vast protective ward. With the initial two monoliths, the ward spanned the northern borders of the two volatile regions. Over time, additional monoliths were erected, with two in Igas and two in Anubeth. These six monoliths, the anchors of the Elemantum Boundary Ward, are most potent in the north, shielding Magrâbik from the otherworldly conditions of Anubeth and Igas. In the other directions, the Magrâbik Monoliths work to keep the advancing glaciers of Igas and the lava flows of Anubeth at a gradual, yet steady pace.
