Megrlof is a partially submerged colossal ruined structure. It resides within the waters of Allof Stond, though this was not its original state. Prior to the Allof Stond War, it was a lake of molten lava, and Megrlof was an apparently impregnable stronghold with fire giants guarding its immense walls.
In the First Epoch, fire giants constructed Megrlof as a base to guard and propagate the lava of Ofli Hrolmir, and indirectly facilitate the expansion of Surtur's Artery. They pursued this objective in a manner that aimed to minimize disruption to the local populace. For a period, they maintained amicable trade relations with the Underdark city-state Hlothrabatta and the surface empire Melephaeusa.
Megrlof was abandoned at the conclusion of the Allof Stond War. As stipulations of the surrender, the city was deserted; this was not a bitter concession since the fire giants were none too pleased with the cooling of the region from the lava lake Allof Stond being severed from its source of lava. Upon departing the city, the people journeyed southward to Trelshum and Thrammaer where they dispersed as refugees among the various holds of those areas.
