The World Splitter was a colossal machine constructed by Tarâk. Known to some cultures by the cruder alias Tarâk's Phallus due to its imposing verticality, the device was a mountain-sized marvel, energized by five Warp Matter Cores. This apparatus of billions of gears and moving components was maintained by forty iron colossi, specialized constructs engineered to manipulate its immense scale.
The Lunar Prosperity and Hubris
Hidden away after the primordial retreat, the machine fell into a long dormancy until its re-discovery in 731 LE. While mining deep within the moon of Dûlan-Nûl, the Mezrack stumbled upon the ancient apparatus. Mistaking a weapon of cosmic destruction for a tool of industrial progress, they repurposed the device to bore through the lunar crust in search of precious metals. For centuries, the Mezrack amassed vast wealth, unaware that the entropic energy left in the machine's wake was systematically unmaking their world.
The Dûlan-Nûl Firestorm
The inevitable collapse occurred in 330 HE when Dûlan-Nûl finally fractured under the stress. Fragments were hurled into the Void, while others rained down upon Bal-Kriav in a cataclysmic event known as the Dûlan-Nûl Firestorm. This rain of lunar iron reshaped the planet, carving out the Iron Bottom seafloor and depositing massive formations across the Sava'khar desert.
The tragedy is best captured by the haunting final words of the Mezrack Khelâd-Thûlu:
"We resided within it, boring immense tunnels... amassing vast wealth. Regrettably, greed superseded engineering considerations, causing our world to shatter and fulfilling the genuine purpose of the primordial apparatus... thereby undoing the labor of Creation."
The Silent Sentry of Sava'khar
Today, the legacy of the World Splitter is a literal part of the landscape. While twisted fragments are embedded in the western Ice Cap, the only surviving primary component—a massive diamond drill—now sits silent in the Sava'khar desert. In this region, the geothermal heat from Surtur's lava flows keeps much of the fallen lunar iron in a permanent liquid state, creating rivers of molten metal that surround the device. There, a few thousand Mezrack tribespeople stand guard over the silent sentry, protecting the weapon that shattered their home.
