Izen'nâth is a cross-shaped rift situated within sector Melvad. Prior to the arrival of the Khazarkar Empire during the Second Epoch, this region was known as Basskaff - a term derived from the Giant tongue and employed by those who fell under the sway of the northern Titan Empires during the Titan Era.

Izen'nâth is a colossal expanse, stretching nearly 150 miles from north to south and extending 200 miles in width. It is an unnatural geological formation created by the birth of a primordial lord. The emergence of Geb caused a vast section of the land to break free and ascend into the sky. What remains is the rift known as Izen'nâth. The territory below is perpetually shrouded in the shadow of a massive earth mote called Gindinâth; should this sky-island descend into Izen'nâth, it would seal the rift like the lid of a coffin.

Izen'nâth varies dramatically in depth, ranging from five hundred feet to an astounding two miles, rendering both Gindinâth and the canyon immense beyond comprehension. The depths of Izen'nâth harbor an abundance of canyons, rifts, rivers, and numerous streams. Additionally, this expansive realm encompasses the starting points of territories and city-states belonging to the creatures of Faeglor.

The shadowy and dark realm of Izen'nâth is marked by countless caves and passages leading from the rift into the Underdark. The gloomy depths of the canyon give rise to an abundance of plants, fungi, and mushrooms, forming oases of life around the streams and rivers cutting through the canyon floor. While the rift itself receives little rainfall, ample water descends into the canyon, some of it cascading in towering waterfalls. The most illuminated area of the rift varies throughout the day, but the northern region is bathed in the fiery glow of volcanic activity. Here, an active volcano, jets of volatile and exploding gas, fissures of toxic gas, and numerous acidic streams draining southward create a landscape lit by this dynamic geological phenomena. Within this northern area of Izen'nâth dwell the eldritch giants, some of whom claim to be the oldest peoples of Bal-Kriav - descendants of the Thraedli lineage.

Venturing southward into Izen'nâth, the first marvel of magic and nature that greets the traveler is the Kernsking Koils. This area is truly awe-inspiring, with colossal vines and countless supporting tendrils spanning the expanse between thousands upon thousands of floating earth motes. According to the Thraedli, when the earth was torn asunder, giving birth to Geb, the land split apart with tremors rippling outward for hundreds of miles. Gindinâth and Izen'nâth were formed from this cataclysmic event, and the Kernsking Koils stand as the last remaining connection between these two regions.

A profound and gloomy lake resides in the southern region of Izen'nâth. This location is somewhat governed by the kuo-toan city-state Unvarith. These kuo-toans were once constituents of a kuo-toan empire that extended for numerous miles southward into Faeglor.

The exterior of the rift's eastern wing is dominated by the fomorians. The adjoining Underdark region is controlled by two adversaries; the northern portion by the Runelderil, and the southern portion by the Zandûl-Khâl empire. These two powers persistently disrupt each other's territories. The other prominent settlement in the rift's deepest recesses is the town of Mulun-Dûna.

The Khazarkar Empire establishes their settlements at least fifty miles from Izen'nâth. This is due to the nightly incursions from the rift or by those descending from the sky-island above, the domain of the cloud and storm titans known as Gurnskolf.
