The Armada of the Damned is a fleet of death ships crewed by the undead. Their initial crews were revenants of the Borillisk Empire ( 790 - 1131 ) . They were the accursed of Godhead, bound to executing his vengeance. In 14 Temporal 1130, the first vessel of the dead, products of the Godhead Curse, embarked on a quest for retribution. They carried out the will of Godhead against the Kal-Oneans, annihilating his people in the Sahuld Blockade.
Over the subsequent decades, the crews of these deathly vessels have evolved to encompass whomever they encountered, with new recruits replacing those who perished. As additional crews and ships were incorporated, the grievances, racial compositions, and nationalities altered considerably. The stringent edicts of the Godhead Curse, a potent sorcery, were not conceived to accommodate such drastic transformations, resulting in a fleet that pillaged the coastlines and shipping routes of the Sea of Mourning and the Pearl for over a century. When led by a capable captain, the fleet can be wielded as if the members were born to their roles.
The Armada of the Damned, when under control, boasts vessels with remarkable operational proficiency, manned by undead commanders forged from the crews of conquered ships - the most skilled individuals selected for this role. The most capable among them grow increasingly powerful, earning the moniker of the Masters. Additionally, the fleet deploys the formidable Damned Marines for boarding operations and assaults on coastal settlements.
The capacity to withdraw from a deteriorating situation is her paramount forte.
Jairall, from a logbook of Godhead's Revenge - "Mindset of a Huntsman"
In the year 1266, the marauding of the notorious Armada of the Damned came to a decisive conclusion. The powerful arch-mage Razzir Tîr and a cohort of air elemental warriors launched a strike against the fleet's flagship, slaying the undead captain of Godhead's Revenge. Razzir and his companions then commandeered the vessel, sailing it through the treacherous Tintibulus Chute to a clandestine outpost on a distant world, where they secreted away the flagship.
The defeat of the flagship swiftly led the remaining vessels to plunge beneath the waves, succumbing to Poseidon's domain. However, this state of affairs is but fleeting, for when the Godhead sails anew, another armada shall assemble to accompany her.
Razzir, from the journal Many Plans, Not Enough Time - "The Armada Scheme"
In the year 1457, the formidable Godhead's Revenge was recovered from the depths of Tintibulus. Seized by the renowned Black Banner group, it was poised to once more sow fear and destruction across the oceans.
In the Black Tide War ( 1465 - 1486 ) , the Godhead's Revenge and its fleet of undead-crewed ships were under the command of Admiral Jairall. Following the Black Tide War, the Armada of the Damned served as the backbone of Bloodtusk's ( 1465 - 1807 ) naval forces.
When Admiral Jairall met his demise in the Battle of Bloodtusk Bay ( 1800 ) , the malevolent Armada of the Damned foundered beneath the churning waves. Certain individuals claim the ill-fated fleet lies in wait, poised to heed the summons of another intrepid commander.
The Armada of the Damned, including Godhead's Revenge, never exceeds 31 ships. Crewed solely by the undead, the fleet's vessels vary widely, comprising fishing, merchant, and warships. The undead crew exhibits a diverse racial composition, with members hailing from across the isles and coasts of the Sea of Mourning and the Pearl Sea. During the Black Tide War, the fleet temporarily included a pair of Grimsuvelth Trawlers manned by skeleton, zombie, and hill giant wights.
