The Great Exodus was a period when vast numbers of people migrated from the region of Gulimbor and the border areas of the Azrik region. The refugees of these regions fled from either the First Khazarkar Empire or the havoc wrought by a magical cataclysm that emerged from the Domination Wars(995 - 1016). During these wars, the reckless use of magic, prolonged over years, resulted in tears in the Web of Magic. This brought on the Gulimbor Cataclysm(996 - 1203), driving five nations to relocate. The lands they left behind in the Great Exodus, Gulimbor and the upper northeastern edge of Azrik, became virtually uninhabitable.
The migration of these substantial populations necessitated herculean exertions by the populace. Meticulous planning over many years was required to coordinate the logistics, ships, food, water, and essential provisions for establishing novel settlements. Countless vessels were constructed where not a single tree stood for miles around urban centers. Traversing the oceans did not proceed without tribulation. Tens of thousands were tragically lost to tempests, pirates, and predators from the depths.
