Feywild Fuse

Feywild Fuse
Category Rifts
Type inter-system rifts between Tirion and other Mortal Systems

A feywild fuse is a temporary inter-system rift, enduring for several months, years, or even decades. These rifts enable transit between a Tiron world like Kriav and a realm of another Mortal System.

The ignition of a feywild fuse occurs when a plant or locale becomes suffused with equal measures of nature energy and arcane energy. A feywild-fused plant permits the use of spells such as pass plant, plant door, and analogous druidic incantations, as well as spatial magic like dimension door and teleport, to traverse the feywild fuse, transitioning from one world to another with haste.

In the Tirion System, a plant that serves as a feywild fuse is virtually indistinguishable from other vegetation. Consequently, locating them proves exceedingly difficult. Conversely, on the opposite side of the rift, the scenario is quite the antithesis. A plant, or even a location, will appear strikingly out of place, exhibiting an otherworldly essence. For instance, a feywild-fused oak tree may be contorted and feature leaves with razor-sharp edges. It may shed its foliage at atypical intervals or possess other peculiar qualities.

The Kriavfahliil Archives of Díronost house scrolls asserting that feywild fuses emerged alongside the Cube Collapse.

On Bal-Kriav, fused fey-infused plants remain unaffected by spells like diminish plant, plant growth, and other effects that alter their size or growth; however, these same magical influences operate as expected when employed within the Tirion System.

In the year 411 of the Lith Crillion Era, employing a feywild fuse, almost a thousand drow departed Kriav for Bal-Kriav, reestablishing themselves in the ruins of Tyelmantar.

In the year 256 HE, after passing through a feywild fuse, fomorians traversed to Bal-Kriav, establishing the settlement of Telostyxe.

The renowned empires of Marchenir and Gwildath, both of the world Kriav, utilize feywild fuses to colonize other realms. The Kriavfahliil on Bal-Kriav trace their lineage to these two empires of the Kriav world. Likewise, Bal-Kriav's hobgoblins arrived in a similar manner, their ancestors encouraged to utilize these rifts, the elves ridding themselves of a people bent on war and destruction.

In the year 610 HE, drow colonists ventured across to Bal-Kriav, where they established the settlement known as Filion'lyr.

The High Wood Quake (9 War March 1251) severed numerous arcane connections between locales in Kriav and the High Wood Country of Bal-Kriav.

The various orders and guilds on Bal-Kriav closely monitor feywild fuses for significant activity. The most renowned of these are the Portal Sentinels. They receive funding from multiple empires and affluent individuals who wish to prevent any external influences from crossing into Bal-Kriav. Likewise, one of the responsibilities of the Nature Protectorates is to track feywild fuses within their respective regions.
