On 16 Hollow 1326, the balor Dvr'jiss was yanked from the Abyss. This came about because his father Demogorgon, weary of his machinations for greater power and seditious acts, cast him out, rather than eliminate him. Scholars well-versed in demon lore unanimously agree that this was not an act of compassion but a means of promoting his interests on Bal-Kriav. Demogorgon passed the true name of his son Dvr'jiss to a conclave of Theegan witches, who summoned him to Bal-Kriav and bound him to serve them. The volatile temperament and seductive ploys of Dvr'jiss resulted in the demise of several witches.

In 1329, Athena's Lanterns, a holy order of knights and priests from Holy Sanctum, invaded the witch sanctum Ara'rya. During the assault, the witches released Dvr'jiss, hoping he would aid them in defeating the holy inquisitors who showed no mercy to those consorting with demons. However, Dvr'jiss had no intention of risking his own life for creatures who would perish within decades, even if they survived the wrath of Athena's Lanterns. Dvr'jiss fled eastward under the cover of silence and invisibility magic. In the northwestern corner of Hells Womb, he used his guile and charisma to unite the gnoll, Toomrur, and hill giant tribes. These tribes were then sent forth to raid the outlying holds of the elven Gwaeldior and dwarven Gathol.

In 1332, Dvr'jiss's intelligence network discovered that the elves of Celebriän and the dwarves of Strumpktar had united and were preparing to march against him. This revelation came as a shock, as Dvr'jiss had previously exploited the racial animosities between them. Concerned about his chances, Dvr'jiss led his army eastward, breaking through dwarven lands and enduring attacks throughout a grueling week-long march. They reached the edge of the Raefknar rift and retreated into it. The decision to descend into the rift resulted in the loss of 20% of the army, as the contingent of hill giants were unable to navigate the narrow paths leading into the rift. They fought to the last against a volley of elven arrows and dwarven war axes. The dwarves and elves, however, did not pursue them into the rift, as they were violating the territorial agreements between Strumpktar and Alreirsoar by being in the area. Alreirsoar gave them until the next morning to depart or face hostilities. Ultimately, the elves and dwarves withdrew, failing to achieve the primary objective of the Balor Prince War - the elimination of Dvr'jiss.

Dvr'jiss and his army necessitated a place of refuge. Upon discovering that Yastorogg was engaged in conflict with Slave Pen, Dvr'jiss participated in the assault upon those caught in the crossfire - the defenders of Yastorogg. The Raefknar War culminated in the capture of Yastorogg and a novel abode for Dvr'jiss.

The muscle for Dvr'jiss Jagg is a mated pair of ancient blue dracoliches. Both were raised by him from birth after having personally eliminated their progenitor. Prior to becoming undead, the incestuous union of the two dragons generated several dragon aberrations which were unleashed to sow destruction throughout the lands surrounding the Raefknar Depression.

Dvr'jiss has sired numerous champions, one of whom is Dax Jagg.
