The Auhtai are a Thri-kreen sub-race. Created by Semuanya, they were endowed with the capacity to develop into a more sophisticated populace, transitioning from nomadic hunters to skilled builders.

In the realm of Bal-Kriav, the Auhtai civilization emerged from the Hive Region. More intellectually advanced than typical thri-kreen, with adept mentalist abilities, they were a society more focused on the pursuit of science than commerce or engaging with neighboring populations.

In the year 155, explorers from Mechantus ventured deep into the Hive region. The expedition's most intriguing discoveries were the carapace-like structures that once served as the dwellings and research facilities of the Auhtai. The largest ruin they encountered was Cha-ka, where they uncovered records detailing how the Auhtai were overwhelmed by their own creations.

After the initial escape of the first Hive Swarm, the remainder materialized swiftly and organically. Within the span of a mere half-epoch, they had proliferated to encompass and consume the surrounding territories for hundreds of leagues in all directions.

In addition to their experiments to enhance certain bugs and manage bug swarms, the Auhtai also investigated methods of incorporating bug components into construction equipment. As the Hive Swarms escalated, they directed their efforts towards military applications. The outcome of this research was the development of sonic weaponry they dubbed Päiki-Synhö.

In 201, Tragarans from Lanirûk explored the Ahutai ruins of Tal'tich. The area was desolate, with the land stripped of vegetation for miles around. They discovered crystal obloids containing the psyche of the Auhtai who wished to live beyond the ravages of their homeland. Known as Auhtai Obloids, these devices were instrumental in expanding the minds of those with psionic potential, leading to Lanirûk and later the Borillisk Empire becoming centers of psionic education and research.

In 341, the Khazarkars discovered preserved Auhtai eggs at Tal'tich. Upon returning to Akann'ndâb, they incubated the eggs, and several dozen hatchlings survived. These were then entrusted to the special weapons division of the Athirbêni. The Auhtai were subsequently raised within the military, and a breeding program was initiated to increase their numbers. The Auhtai's rapid growth rate enabled the Khazarkars to swiftly expand their military might, far outpacing that of their adversaries.

During the Great Exodus ( 998 - 1017 ) , the Auhtai, like captives, departed with the Khazarkars, eventually settling in the Cinazan Region. In this cooler climate, and due to extensive inbreeding, their population declined. By the Third Epoch, only 10,000 Auhtai remained in Cinazan, with even fewer elsewhere. However, in the 1700s, their numbers began to rebound, stemming from the introduction of Thri-kreen, once native to Kalaran, to strengthen the Auhtai bloodline.

The birth rate among our population is significantly higher than that of our neighboring regions. In a mere two centuries, we will have grown into a formidable force to be recognized and reckoned with.
