The Minotaurs of Bal-Kriav are a people defined by a transition from demonic origins to a disciplined, "civilized" society, largely due to centuries of external influence and internal struggle.
Origins and the Demon Spawn War
- Creation: They were created in the labs of Tixargium by the demon lord Baphomet.
- Service: During the Demon Spawn War ( 89 GE - 269 GE ) , they fought as shock troops for their demonic masters.
- Liberation: Following the war, some escaped their masters or were freed from Covenant prisons, establishing themselves as independent but fractured warlords in the Imrabêl Valley.
The Khazarkar Servitude and Refining
- Enslavement: After losing the Third Imrabêl War ( 412 - 414 ) , the Minotaurs were absorbed and enslaved by the First Khazarkar Empire .
- Cultural Edict: From 420 to 796, their masters implemented the Minotaur Cultural Edict , a period of selective breeding and forced education designed to eradicate their "demonic tendencies" and bestial impulses.
- Linguistic Shift: As a result of this era, they abandoned their ancestral Abyssal tongue in favor of Nidurrâb.
Independence and the Azrik Migration
- The Great Revolt: In 796, the Great Minotaur Revolt ended their servitude.
- Establishment of Azrik: The liberated Minotaurs migrated into the Azrik Region, founding settlements like Ilfongrak in the north and Bâlê in the south.
