This region began to be known as the Tribe Steppes during the First Epoch. This name reflects the central grassy plains dotted with dense tree concentrations near the highlands and larger waterways. The designation also stems from the tribal peoples who inhabit the area, ever resistant to the encroachment of civilization. The Jara roam the land unabated, occasionally launching major raids under the command of one or more Jara Khans.
The grassy steppe, well-suited for hooves, once covered a greater expanse. However, it continues to lose thousands of acres annually as expansive unnatural forests encroach. The Tendrils, a result of the Pyramid of Nature, push from the east, while the Maegorion Forest, a product of the Seed of Tarfilerquar, spreads its ominous influence from the south.
In the Titan Era, sector Morteban was dominated by the Gadstill Dynasty. This Titan Empire, led by the stone giants, stood poised to expand into Sava'loth, but a fateful decision, influenced by the magical meddling of Krak-Oth, redirected their territorial ambitions towards the Ice Cap region.
The remnants of other once-mighty empires dot the landscape. These ruins are those of the Ak'mrîtun and the Ithendelt. Additionally, there are even more ancient ruins dating back to the era when the gods battled the primordials and the Creation War, which were subsequently repurposed in the subsequent war against the demon invasions.
The Tribe Steppes is a peculiar realm with numerous distinctive attributes, such as a somber and expansive depression known as the Shadow Rift, the "Titan Observation Towers" of Harongrand and Onvargard, and the aforementioned forests, ever encroaching.
Beneath this region lies the Underdark domain of Erthadan. This shadowy realm is accessible from numerous locations above. This circumstance arose from the perpetual menace posed by the nomadic and bellicose jara.
