In the Black Tide War, the Gimhak Monarchy barred the Black Tide's incursion into Sorrow Pass. This strategic area, situated between the Orchish Empire to the north and Gimhak to the south, was crucial for the Black Tide to traverse. Following the conquest of the Lands of Purity, a military objective of the Dead Council, ambassadors were dispatched to the Orchish Empire. The two sides forged a military alliance that would endure until either northern or southern Gimhak fell.
In the year 1473 of the Gimhak War (1470 - 1479), Gimhak's southern territories, focused on the city of Strumpktar, were conquered by the Eye-Skull Pact.
With the Black Tide in control of the Sorrow Pass, a side deal between the city-state of Alreirsoar and the Paradomean Empire proposed that Sorrow Pass and Gathol be established as a demilitarized zone. Scoffing at this proposal, the Dead Council and their growing undead legions eagerly welcomed the prospect of conflict. Behind the scenes of these political negotiations, widely reported in Paradomea City and Vraga Moltus, agreements were reached for safe trade corridors, away from the wandering undead of the Black Tide and their lawless elements. Recognizing the need for trade with the great cities of Hells Womb, the Orchish Empire backed the idea, compelling the Black Tide to acquiesce, at least for the time being.
Pinth - Therefore, we shall establish a twenty-mile safe zone along and within the Foronir River, facilitating trade, commerce, and intelligence gathering.
Dax - We can certainly derive advantages from this prospect. A trade route spanning a conflict-ridden region could provide supplies to the prominent southern capitals as well as the militant forces of the north.
Rax - And the Fograth on our right, prepared to strike at the merest hint of vulnerability.
Garn - We keep what we win.
