Early origins shrouded in mystery, Maen Grirngrim evolved into a necrotic-infused primordial, consuming soul energy, playing his role in unraveling Creation. In the perspective of numerous primordials, Maen's capabilities were relatively limited, paling in comparison to the likes of the Master of Tides and the Nine-Tongued Worm.
Engaged in an apparently unending and futile war, the Creation War ( 1486 DE - 8777 DE ) , and ridiculed by numerous individuals, Maen grew more autonomous, forging a trajectory distinct from what he described as "a Cult of Chaos, in another era a different appellation."
The Forefather of Necromancy, Maen's groundbreaking work established the venerable Art of Necromancy. His in-depth studies into the nature of negative energy culminated in the creation of some of the earliest known Undead entities. Alongside the patient green dragon Hurguulich, Maen Grirngrim is credited as the innovator of the first dracolich. Within the hallowed halls of Ink Hold, he delved deeply into the arcane mysteries of Necrotic Energy, developing life-draining spells and unlocking potent recipes for empowering items with the ability to devour souls.
In the year 7791 of the Dawn Era, Maen Grirngrim was vanquished by the legendary Golden Seven. This triumph, however, came at a heavy price, as three of the Golden Seven lost their very souls. Scholars of Horgonian lore assert that Maen Grirngrim was not entirely destroyed; instead, his essence was divided among the Saints of Maen and their dreaded torcs.
Following the Creation War, the Covenant devoted substantial effort to purging the realms of the most perilous elements of Maen Grirngrim's sorcery. However, they failed to locate the Scrolls of Maen. Discovered aboard the Halatrax two eras later, these scrolls gave rise to the practice of Maen Saetild.
In the Horgon Era, a Durkoth known as Molakh-Búle collated the writings and work of Maen into tomes of dark lore, profoundly influencing figures such as Caliguworm, Thasmudyan, and the Dead Council.
