In the 24th year, the wood elves of Lossëhelin were driven from Turgon. This occurred following the opening of the Ungorth Reddik Road, which unleashed a demonic invasion upon the island - an onslaught not seen since the Demon Spawn War ( 89 GE - 269 GE ) . The displaced Lossëhelin then sailed northward to the northwestern shores of Brucrumus. In the 30th year, the survivors of this exodus formed a loose network of support, a confederacy known as the Angrod Lossëhelin. A century later, this was abbreviated to simply Angrod.

The Angrod is a confederation of wood elf tribes and fey creatures concentrated in the central tracts of the great Taurquion Forest. This nation is widely dispersed, lacks clearly defined borders, and maintains loose political controls. Its predominantly wood elf population is highly tribal and xenophobic, only answering to the self-proclaimed authorities in Mablung when the threat is severe. Outside the cities, their holdings tend to be small and nomadic. Thousands of tree dwellings, some vast like Mablung and others simple tree cottages for hunting parties or seasonal habitation, are scattered across the High Wood. Travelers who search actively may come upon what appear to be abandoned tree towns, but these are not truly abandoned, for the elves are migratory and will later return to make repairs and inhabit the places for a time before venturing back into the wild. Some of these forest dwellings, such as the linked five-mile expanse of vine and tree bridges of Rárvelluilwë, are vast in scale.

In 1002, twelve households were banished due to subversive actions. Accused of obstructing the natural progression of the Taurquion woodland, they were escorted to Angrod's eastern boundaries; after two years, they established the settlement of Lúinwë.

The Angrod people do not hold half-elves or the Kriavfahliil in high esteem. They perceive half-elves as only partially attuned to the forests, and partially attuned to something else. Furthermore, they view the Kriavfahliil as elves foreign to their world, attuned instead to the realm of Kriav.

The Drow of Xalyth, dwarves of the Clan Region, and Jara raiders from the Tribe Steppes are Angrod's adversaries. The Drow pose the most significant threat, launching nocturnal sorties from the countless subterranean crevices and caverns that dot the area. The deserted dwarven mines of Kizan and Hambrimoth are the most perilous locations. Drow activity is rampant in Tulandur, owing to their alliance with the dragon cult Vith Alok. In the High Down War, the Angrods waged war against the Drow empire Eldalweril, and their practice of genocide nearly eradicated this Drow empire.

Angrod's most potent weapon is the Pyramid of Nature.
