In the Creation War ( 1486 DE - 8777 DE ) , Mammon held a critical role in the Covenant's logistical operations. This encompassed the commercial aspects, including trading with native populations and others embroiled in the sprawling interstellar conflict. Mammon's responsibilities spanned accounting, banking, and overseeing the flow of capital and commerce across the dozens of worlds embroiled in the war.
By the end of the Creation War, the Covenant victorious, Mammon was hailed as a banking genius by some and a cunning, unscrupulous financier by others. This perception of him as the latter only intensified during the Demon Spawn War ( 89 GE - 269 GE ) . In this conflict, as part of a Covenant of a different name, he served as the top financial supervisor. However, when it was discovered that he had been siphoning money and riches for his own benefit, stashing them on Minauros and other Forge Worlds, he was forced into a less prominent role, though he never truly left the scene. Mammon continued to handle the financial matters for various unsavory activities within certain Covenant factions. It was during this time that he forged a close relationship with Asmodeus, helping the latter channel funds into his specialized projects, supporting the covert wars against the demons, and financing the construction and equipping of the secret Devil armies.
In the Trial of Asmodeus, Mammon and his superior Asmodeus were exiled from the Mortal Systems, becoming Fallen Angels.
Mammon's rise to Cult Power occurred on Bal-Kriav. His initial followers were among the halflings of Nermanea - bankers, lenders, forgers, con-artists, schemers, and others seeking to capitalize on the financial exploitation of others. Having monopolized numerous goods, his adherents were ultimately compelled to depart. They journeyed eastward, where, following their mercantile triumphs in Maurkac and Rabaranda, they coalesced into the Nermanis Syndicate ( 712 - 923 ) .
In the Hells system, Mammon presides over the affairs of the realm of Minauros. He answers to Asmodeus. Over the ages, Mammon's unquenchable craving for affluence has resulted in him becoming potentially the wealthiest entity in the entire cosmos, the Lord of Riches. Dispersed far and wide, in countless vaults, at the heart of intricate mazes or guarded by formidable sentinels, the opulent possessions of Mammon are the impetus for the multitude of scoundrels and extraterrestrial explorers on Minauros.
