In 1451 DE, Sphere 411 was given form. Crafted from the energies of Chaos by the Creationist god Benevolence, it became the third world of the Quara'tun System. Like the other worlds and moons forged by the Creationists, it did not receive a more specific name until after the 14th Battle of Regadnîn. In this pivotal clash of the Creation War, the Nawirrûs Covenant's supreme commander, Bal-Kriav, was killed.

With the power of Creation, he was an astute strategist and perhaps one of the most noble and virtuous beings I have ever encountered. He extended mercy to those primordials who yielded. Rather than eradicating these wicked monsters, he banished them to the prison continent of Denerra.

Here we stand at the walls of Irrai, honoring the hero that fought hard against our enemies. He put aside his mantle of creation, to save the cornerstone of the war, this world. If it had fallen, so would have the system. May we hereby honor him, naming this world Bal-Kriav.

Athena, the esteemed angel leader of the Golden Seven, as depicted in a Scroll of Dawn - "The Dawn Chronicles"

Bal-Kriav was situated in close proximity to the frontlines of the Creation War. This was a conflict between primordials and deities over the dominion of creation. The cataclysmic war left its indelible mark on Bal-Kriav, manifested in the form of lost artifacts, ancient fortresses, and confined primordials.

The primordials seeded this world and others with giants and archons to serve as soldiers in their armies against the gods. When these primordials and their most threatening minions were eliminated, imprisoned or driven from Bal-Kriav, their subordinates like the giants, archons, and others were left behind. The angels and deities also populated Bal-Kriav with mortals. Some of these individuals participated as soldiers in the Creation War, while others were created later during the God Era. Bal-Kriav also contains a number of races that were not originally placed here up to the Lith-Crillion Era. One example is the Durkoth that arrived in their Helas Vessels, bringing with them three slave races and one master slave race. After their overlords disappeared during the Durkoth Descent ( 995 HE - 1355 HE ) , the Theegans, Dromites, Sussgurd, and Hydrocur went on to establish their own civilizations.

Bal-Kriav, akin to numerous other realms, is enveloped by a Web of Magic. Over the eras, it has been taxed and durably enfeebled in certain regions, culminating in Rifts to alternative systems and worlds.

Bal-Kriav is encircled by rings known as the Halo of Bal-Kriav. These celestial rings display varying hues throughout the day, contingent upon the angle at which illumination from the stars Merioss and Khâls Forge reaches the planet.

The four moons orbiting Bal-Kriav include the two visible in spring and summer, Opulent Eye and Urokolon, a time also marked by high seas and turbulent weather patterns. During the fall and winter months, only the moon Leptyr graces the sky. The fourth moon, Deaths Kindle, periodically appears, a time associated with necromantic practices and a resurgence of undead activity.
