Of the Wahliik lineage, Tiamat was a silver dragon. During the Dawn Era, she fought alongside angels and deities in the Creation War, which spanned from 1486 DE to 8777 DE.
In the God Era, Tiamat was one of the preeminent dragon generals during the Demon Spawn War ( 89 GE - 269 GE ) . In the final battle of the Hoof Front, while serving under Bahamut, Tiamat engaged a powerful demon lord. The wounds she sustained in this epic clash were chaos infused. Over the next several weeks, her body swelled to monstrous proportions and transformed into a great primordial hydra with dragon heads. The most potent healing spells of Bahamut could not cure Tiamat's festering wounds or reverse the changes to her physiology and, unbeknownst to him, her psyche. Inexplicably, he did not seek aid from far more powerful angelic healers or even the gods themselves. In the following months, Tiamat grew resentful of Bahamut's power and weary of his pride. She abandoned the angelic cause and set about building her own force to combat the demons and any celestial forces that dared impede her. Nearly two centuries later, Tiamat and Bahamut engaged in the First Dragon Wake ( 218 GE - 235 GE ) .
When Tiamat was driven from Bal-Kriav, she retreated to the Forge Worlds. There, she was greeted by Asmodeus. Offered the prestigious title of Overlord of Avernus, she declined. Tiamat understood that to earn the old battle master's trust, one must prove their worth, so she waged war against Avernus's current governor, eventually claiming the title of Overlord of Avernus after a decade-long conflict, which was entirely financed by Asmodeus.
In the year 1109 HE, as her followers established outposts across the Aerie of Dragons and beyond, Tiamat rose to become a formidable Cult Power.
The spread of Tiamat worship on Bal-Kriav commenced with the Kriistvrii of the Aerie of Dragons. Beginning around the 11th century of the Horgon Era, their ultimate aim was to supplant the Church of Bahamut with that of Tiamat. Over the ensuing two centuries, these dragon cultists vexed the Zeymah'kein Empire. This threat precipitated the Platinum Inquisition ( 1279 HE - 1290 HE ) , with Tiamat's adherents either executed or exiled. Many migrated eastward, settling in the frigid vale Sotiisk'lum, ultimately forming the malevolent Kriistvrii empire Galirkrad.
One of the most efficient assemblages to disseminate the sway of Tiamat is the draconic cult Vith Alok.
The tainted branch of the Wahliik bloodline, known as the Gral Wahliik, are the descendants of Tiamat.
